Scope Of Work
Utah Valley University in Orem is now the largest institution of higher education in the state. In the fall of 2015, more than 33,200 students were enrolled. This is a 6% increase compared to numbers released in 2014. By 2020, it is projected that more than 40,000 students will be enrolled at UVU. In order to keep up with the growing student body population, the university hired Big-D to construct a new, 244,000 square foot classroom building on campus.
The Classroom Building is the largest building on campus. The building has 34 classrooms ranging in size from 40-to-330 seats. There is also a 1,000-seat auditorium, along with study and learning space. The auditorium can be divided into three sections for flexible use. A multipurpose space on the fifth floor provides panoramic views of Utah Valley.
The building is LEED-registered with the U.S. Green Building Council and is certified as LEED Gold. This is the second building on campus to be LEED-registered. The new science building was certified Silver for energy efficiency. Big-D Construction was also hired to build the new science building and completed that project in 2012.
