Scope Of Work
Sage Colleges’ new softball field was built on land that had a one-on-one slope with a ledge. In order to make room for the fields, it was determined that almost 100,000 cubic yards of blue shale had to be blasted and removed from the site. BHC value engineered and recommended the creation of a two-on-one slope, saving the college enough money to build dugouts for the softball field and possibly an outdoor maintenance/concession area. BHC coordinated the blasting of the shale with the City of Troy, and enhanced public communication efforts by attending City meetings, handling out pamphlets, and holding public hearings to educate citizens about the blasting. The new athletic field is a big hit with the softball team, as well as the City of Troy.
