This Maine couple bucked the down-sizing trend to build a retirement home situated on a hill with stunning westerly views and plenty of space for large family gatherings,   Sitting by the fire, cooking a meal, playing games, and dining all take place in the great room.  Off the main living room is a cozy library, a timber-framed outdoor porch with a fireplace, stairs leading to bedrooms on the upper level and to finished space on the lower level.
