Scope Of Work

This full service establishment has a huge reputation in and around our nation's capital. The place where "deal makers" go to transact business. This location took on a "nautical" theme and is carried out superbly by designer Chatelain Architects of Washington D.C., executed with great care by local general contractor Gordon & Maizel.

The "Crew Bar" took its name from the long crew boat hanging from the rafters. This bar of solid Honduras Mahogany has ribbons of blonde Maple hardwood laminated between the planks of the top. The die replicates the "inside" view of the hull of a wooden vessel. As it descends downward, it curves towards you on all four sides of its massive size.

The back bar was basic within, sporting refrigerators and dry storage behind custom louvered doors. But atop is the cabin head of a hand-crafted wooden yacht. Curving and sloping in all directions at once, a real test for us. At the center you'll find an oyster display of sheet copper, insulated and coil wrapped for continuous cold.

The "Bait Shop Bar" took on a whole different feel. More casual like sitting atop the boat ramp by the shore, the front and back bar is still solid Honduras Mahogany, planked in classic style with a stainless steel top at the "open-up" window side to serve fishermen on the patio. The boothwork here has cushions fashioned to look like life preservers complete with brass grommets.

In the "Sail Room", you get the feeling you've stepped within the galley of a classic passenger vessel. From the skylight PWI created above to the paneled walls all about you. The boothwork has a truly nautical feel with horizontal lines and rounded corners throughout. Carved glass panels with nautical scenes remind diners that it could be worse outside! Solid plank table tops complete the package with a hand-rubbed oil finish.
