Scope Of Work
We renovated this Newton home to create functional, charming interior spaces, and beautiful exterior landscaping that includes gardens, a patio, and porch, all without compromising the character of the neighborhood. Of interest is the owner’s use of recycled materials. S + H repurposed factory fire doors in the house for use as a partition and reclaimed flooring, salvaged from a school gym, for the game room. A deep excavation was performed under the garage to give the game room ample ceiling height. The ceiling was spanned with pre-stressed concrete panels. This solution created a load-bearing floor for the garage without breaking up the open space in the game room below with a column or similar load bearing support. All existing interior and exterior finishes of the home were replaced. Note the tile flooring in the baths, coffered ceilings in the living room and built in shelving and cabinets throughout. The floors are also radiant heated.
