Scope Of Work
Project Overview
Black Bear Coatings & Concrete spent three days at the Madison Brewery in Vermont to value-engineer and install a replacement system that would last longer and enhance the environment of the brewery room. Black Bear’s experience designing commercial flooring solutions that were functional, as well as fashionable for restaurants, uniquely positioned them as experts to complete this project – a site that doubled as a manufacturing plant and public dining establishment.
The Process
STEP 1: Diamond grind existing floors
STEP 2: Deep fill patching using Poly-Crete WR non-shrink epoxy mortar
STEP 3: Polycrete MDB at 3/16th with a 4 inch seamless cove
STEP 4: Use a ColorFast top coat

Challenges
As both a beverage manufacturing facility and restaurant, the Black Bear crew needed to work in a tight space adjacent to the dining room while it was in service. To minimize disruption to the business, Black Bear needed to shield the work from public view, keep the space free of production debris and contaminants, and ensure that the noise level be kept to a minimum.
Black Bear’s Solution
Black Bear needed to repair the substrate prior to installing a new system. Deep-fill patching was required to salvage existing slabs. The team used tarps and Hepa-filtered equipment on site to keep byproducts of the work from filtering into public spaces.
The Client
The Madison Brewing Company and Restaurant is a fixture in Bennington, Vermont’s historic downtown district. Home to more than seven unique brews on tap, including six regular beers and a seasonal brew, diners favor the lunch and dinner spot for original dishes, friendly service and its local flavor.
