Scope Of Work
Design/Build construction of an addition to an existing plant for the processing preparation of “Ready to Eat” Smithfield Food product lines. The Contract Duration of 14 months for both Design Construction was completed two months ahead of schedule, successfully providing a significant early revenue stream for Smithfield Foods. Project was constructed while maintaining full capacity of the existing facility operations including intergration with central plant refrigeration, central plant electrical, steam, utilities, fire alarm, structural tie-ins, renovations. Specialized construction methods were routine for maintaining cleaniness, protection, negative air for compliance with Smithfield Food Safety USDA regulations. A processing mechanical mezzanine of approximately 44,000 sf that includes an Equipment/MCC room, Process Chill area, future palletizing area. The main plant area is approximately 131,600 sf, with a 6,300 sf dry storage addition a 9,000 sf new shipping addition. Main plant consists of raw material receiving, work in process cooler, mixing blending area, stuffing area, smokehouses chill cabinets, tempering coolers, slicing halls, packaging, automated palletizing. All specialized process equipment was coordinated to interface with mechanical/electrical equipment connections for air, high pressure hot water, steam, condensate, domestic water, process water, gas piping, power wiring, control systems.
