Scope Of Work
This project consisted of a major plant expansion, as well as, modifying the entire facility for enhanced nutrient removal.
Two new above grade cast-in-place concrete aeration tanks were constructed. Five (5) existing aeration tanks seven (7) Aerobic/Anoxic/Anerobic (AAA) tanks were completely overhauled to support the requirements of the new treatment process. These overhauls consisted of demolition, installation of new cast-in-place concrete, new piping fine bubble diffuser systems. In addition, three (3) existing primary clarifiers were overhauled to include new concrete, piping, coatings mechanisms. New welded stainless steel piping stainless steel supports ranging in size from 3/8” to 60” in diameter were installed throughout the plant. Three (3) 17,000 gallon welded stainless steel hazardous chemical storage tanks were constructed. Extensive epoxy coating systems were installed on concrete steel structures for chemical containment protection from corrosive environments. A new Gravity Belt Thickener (GBT) associated controls piping was installed at the Sludge Handling Building. A new emergency generator was installed and the two existing units were retrofitted with new control systems. All three units were then connected to new paralleling switchgear in a new generator building addition. A new Emerson process control system was integrated into the existing control system. New ductile iron piping ranging in size from 4” to 54” was installed throughout the plant. Project also included a HEPA like air filtration system that scrubbed the process buildings air of hazardous airborne contaminants. Without this filtration system the contaminants could reach life threatening levels.
