Scope Of Work
Unlike any other school in the Orange County Public School system, Lake Nona Middle School pushed the envelope of design and school programming to new heights. This new prototypical middle school is a modern contemporary three-story middle school that was developed for the next generation of students. Inter-active learning centers, learning studios, learning streets, and small school grade-level house concepts abounded the design and planning of all the learning spaces.
When asked to create Lake Nona Middle School, BRPH went big, creating a drawing that would accommodate 1,257 student stations distributed among three “grade-level houses,” one per floor. Each house contains satellite guidance spaces, administrative support, classrooms, resource rooms, and skills labs, creating a small school within a larger facility.
The school includes a strong planning design to include technology in the classrooms with components such as video conferencing, instructional projection, audio enhancement, document imaging and projection, wireless computing, and local area networks. The plans also include six computer skills labs, nine science rooms, and four vocational labs for a strong centralized focus on science and technology.
