Scope Of Work
BRPH Architects-Engineers, Inc.provided architectural and engineering design services for a $19.2 million Child Development Center (CDC) at Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The project is a design-build contract awarded to BRPH and construction partner Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company of Honolulu, Hawaii.
The 30,600 SF building will provide 24 classrooms and community spaces for the care of 304 children from the ages of six weeks to five years. In addition to the classrooms, the facility will feature a full kitchen, laundry room, storage space, and administrative offices. The exterior playground will be enhanced with tension fabric covers for protection from the sun.
BRPH used Building Information Modeling (BIM) for this project, enabling the design team to build a virtual model of the building and electronically generate the construction documents. Antiterrorism measures and sustainable design features are included. The facility is LEED Platinum Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System.
