A comprehensive 47,000 SF elementary school renovation, carefully coordinated to minimize impacts of construction to staff and students
Originally built in 1953, the J.J. Flynn Elementary School was in need of significant renovations. Construction work consisted of interior and exterior demolition, new interior and exterior walls, roof replacement, asbestos removal, skylights, windows, ceilings, mechanical/electrical systems, and fire protection system improvements.
The work was completed in combination with the school’s summer shutdown as well as the occupied school season, requiring a high level of scheduling coordination. An aggressive and well-organized summer workload was undertaken to complete the larger infrastructure work, so that the impact to the school could be minimized during the occupied school year renovation work.
