Scope Of Work
This project consisted of repairs and retrofits the lighting system on LAAF Ft. Huachuca, AZ Libby Runway Airfield. The challenge was to demolish existing runway light fixtures and threshold fixtures and their associated conduits, wiring, isolation transformers, fixture holes, drainage, regulators and all required items for proper and safe operation. The work also included retrofitting lighting fixtures through underground power distribution systems each light fixture of 5,000 volts, series circuits.
The existing runway lighting system consisted of high intensity runway edge lights spaced approximately 200 feet apart 12 feet from the edge of the runway and edge lighting is fed from the two lighting regulators and the circuit configuration is a split circuit. Therefor the light cans are plastic and do not have drainage holes, thus causing a shortage in out cables under rainy conditions. A solution implemented was to design a drainage system that could reduce the amount of water left in the light cans.
