Fairbanks Mill, Inc. is a general contractor based in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. We focus on complex multi-faceted projects in the industrial and commercial sectors. We are versatile, blending our varied skills with those of our talented and dedicated team of subcontractors, suppliers, and design professionals. Our people are passionate about creating value for our clients, efficiently delivering quality projects, on time, and within budget.

Established by Robert Desrochers in 1979, Fairbanks Mill, Inc. originated at the old Fairbanks Scales saw mill site on the Sleepers River in North Danville, Vermont. Although there was always a strong interest in water power, work opportunities were pursued in a wide variety of projects including concrete, sitework, carpentry, and landscape construction. During the mid 1980’s, operations were moved to the Emerson Falls Business Park where a significant expansion allowed participation in some relatively large projects throughout the northern New England region. Learning that bigger is not necessarily better, the 1990’s saw FMI refocus on client centered project delivery. A final move was made to our current office, warehouse, and shop, the former Fairbanks Scale factory, in St. Johnsbury, once more on the banks of the Sleepers River.
