Scope Of Work
The City College of New York Marshak Science Building is located on the upper west side of Manhattan. Built in 1971, this 13-story 600,000 sq. ft. high-rise houses research and teaching labs, office space, a library, an auditorium, and a gymnasium with a pool. To address indoor air quality issues resulting from an aging infrastructure, Willdan is implementing a comprehensive multi-phase project that includes assessment, design, and construction management to renovate the facilities.
Two of the four project phases are nearly complete, including the installation of a new building management system, retrofits of low-flow fume hoods, and new make-up air systems for the building’s laboratories. This project has already saved The City College of New York $55.4 million to replace failing systems, and provided an annual energy savings of over 1,325,000 kWh. Additionally, these upgrades have improved building air quality and addressed environmental control issues.
