Scope Of Work

The 85,848-square-foot Talley Street Upper Elementary School required early, thoughtful planning and coordination with City Schools of Decatur, the design team, the community and the City of Decatur. It includes two, two-story classroom wings with a courtyard between the west wing and the south side of campus. To minimize any disruptions to the community, neighbors and traffic, the team developed a project-specific logistics plan and safety plan to keep neighbors and visitors safe during the course of construction. The new school is a shining example of the 21st Century Learning Environment and features the latest, innovative technology. It also provides flexibility and has the ability to adapt to the school's current and future needs. In addition, there is a 40,000-square-foot play field, a playground area, a garden and space for future classroom expansion. More than half of the six-acre site is green space to preserve the existing tree canopy.
