Scope Of Work
This single-story studio building features a cathedral ceiling in the classroom, with two oversized shed dormers, providing abundant natural light to the room. Designed to blend with the original out-buildings, it provides a modern, environmentally sensitive reflection of the ambience of this historic 19th Century farm building complex. The building features a standing seam lead-coated copper roof covered walkway, that is built and furnished with western red cedar posts and beams, with an exposed tongue and groove ceiling. This walkway is parallel to an adjacent storefront, with a series of individually glazed openings, and three pairs of doors that open directly to the classroom. A separate matching storefront section opens to the restroom lobby. The architect also makes significant reference to, and use of the prevalent stone walls and cobble foundations, by recycling this same field stone in the buildings foundation and façade.
Advanced Building Concepts performed all framing and finish carpentry work, and subcontracted the concrete foundation, stone veneer and mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades only.
