Scope Of Work
Vernal, Utah, is a small town with big attractions. It’s the home base for visitors to Dinosaur National Monument and it’s one of the closest towns to the spectacular Flaming Gorge Reservoir. It’s also an educational hub for the Uintah Basin region, thanks to the Uintah Basin Applied Technology College (UBATC) campus there.
By 2007, UBATC Vernal was cramped with too many students in too little classroom space. Big-D helped construct the UBATC Classroom Building and Industrial Technology Facility to help the college expand educational opportunities and course offerings. The college also planned for the new and improved space to accommodate more externally funded research projects.
The 83,475 square-foot project included two new structures—an industrial technology facility and adjacent classroom building—as well as all related site work. The new buildings include curriculum space for a variety of trades, including health care, computers, drafting/CADD, chemistry, biology, food services, heavy equipment maintenance and operation, petroleum technology, welding, and construction.
