Scope Of Work
The Salt Lake County Health Department provides several services as part of its mission of promoting and protecting community and environmental health. These services include immunizations, birth certificates, health permits, and WIC (Women Infants & Children). As the population grows in the county, as does the need for the health department’s services. In 2017, the county hired Big-D Construction to construct a new Salt Lake County Public Health Center in Salt Lake City.
The new center was be built on the same site as the existing Salt Lake County Public Health Center. The existing Health Center was relocated to a temporary location during construction so crews could demolish the old building. The new 50,000 square-foot facility consists of a two-story, steel-framed masonry veneer construction. It is anticipated the building will receive a LEED Gold Certification through the U.S. Green Building Council. Sustainable measures includes ample day-lighting, high performing mechanical systems, and high-performing glazed storefront windows.
Construction on the new Salt Lake County Public Health Center was completed in the beginning of 2019.
