Scope Of Work
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with more than 2.4 million young members. The organization holds camps and retreats all year and recently, Big-D Construction built a new lodge for a camp in the Utah mountains.
The Thomas S. Monson Lodge is a 23,000 square foot, multi-use building that will be the centerpiece to the camp. The lodge features conference rooms, restrooms, a Scoutmaster area with Wi-Fi access, a full-service kitchen, and a dining patio. There are several training rooms and areas for merit badge achievement. Crews used steel beams and a steel deck roof system, glass storefront system, and concrete slabs. Thousands of Boy Scouts, along with their leaders, are expected to utilize the camp and the lodge. The lodge is part of a large-scale makeover for the entire camp. Thousands of Boy Scouts, along with their leaders and young women from girls’ encampments, will utilize the lodge.
The lodge was named after the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thomas S. Monson is a friend and a former member of the Boy Scouts. Most of the construction costs were covered by a contribution made by the Sorenson Legacy Foundation. Additional improvements are planned for the Hinckley Scout Ranch.
