Scope Of Work
Remove approximately 1500 lf. of galvanized domestic cold water lines in basement area and replaced with copper lines. The new copper lines were installed with Gruvlock fitting for 3" pipe to 6" pipe. Copper pipe 2 1/2" and less was done in Propress. Shut downs to remove the old water lines and put the new lines in service was confined to a 5 hour time slot after 10 pm and water service was required to be returned by 3 am. The contract was written to do an exact replacement of the water lines which would have required a shut down every day. To avoid the nightly interruption in service the system was re designed. Where possible a parallel line was installed next to the existing water line. Where a parallel line was not possible a new route for the piping was configured. This re design of the system enable shut downs to be limited to the final weeks of the project instead of every day for 3 months. Limiting the interruption in water service to a prison relieved most of the stress for us the contractor as well as the facility. The facility was very pleased with the workmanship on this project as well as the minimal service interruptions.
