Scope Of Work

One of the unique aspects of a construction team with in-depth riverine knowledge and experience is the opportunity to collaborate and enhance outcomes for stakeholders. At the Riverside Project, the engineers had proposed a crib wall design that maximized the available budget but would not allow them to achieve the best value design possible. After reviewing all the facts and circumstance, the L4 team was able to offer a solution that enhanced the integrity of the crib wall with two major modifications: We installed larger boulders than originally specified, and we installed a deeper and more substantial riprap vein and protection than called for in the plan set. We were able to achieve this by reducing costs with logistics management and sourcing of materials, as well as through efficiency of construction sequencing and installation. The net result was a stronger bank stabilization system to support the failed cutbank, increased longevity of the crib wall through the use of larger footer boulders that replaced rootwads, and better value for the community and public use of funds.
