Our Story

California Rail Builders, LLC is a joint venture of Ferrovial Construction and Griffith Company. The joint venture is a special purpose entity that has come together to build the foundation for high-speed rail service from Poplar Avenue in Kern County to approximately one mile north of the Tulare/Kern County line. The JV brings together a $10 billion international company with extensive rail construction expertise and the company who paved Southern California, a general contractor with over 80 years’ experience in the Central Valley. Together, Ferrovial Construction and Griffith Company are California Rail Builders.

Ferrovial Construction

Ferrovial Construction has over 80 years’ civil engineering and construction experience in more than 50 countries on five continents. They bring experience with high-speed rail projects and a history of innovation to the California Rail Builders project. Ferrovial Construction’s emphasis on minimizing the environmental impact of all activities has far-reaching benefit to the project and the citizens of the Central Valley. A Safety Management System designed specifically for the project enhances the safety of employees and subcontractors. Learn more about Ferrovial Construction.

Griffith Company

Griffith Company is one of California’s earliest general contractors. Beginning in 1904, Griffith Company has built more roadways than any contractor in the Western United States. They have a reputation for industry-leading project management with highly trained and specialized crews that successfully complete projects for a variety of public works. The history and reputation of Griffith Company well qualifies them to build the transportation future of California – California High Speed Rail.
