I have been in the painting industry since (a junior in high school)
1993, operating around the Chicagoland suburbs. I started in the union
as a residential track homes/custom repaint pro and as many young
hustling painters do, started a "side business" that turned
full time, and lucrative. 2008 crashed hard for the trades and around
2012 I made the journey to AZ joining ranks again with some of the
most influential commercial painting/coating shops in the Phoenix
Valley, promoting quickly. Observing a lack of resources, hungry for
a qualified labor market, I got licensed and started working again
under the ECSW banner with nothing but some hand tools and an old
truck. Here we are, many years later, with many more lessons in
business and relationships, thriving.
I traded the brush and sprayer in for a keyboard and
calculator. I once thought being self-taught in nearly every area of
the business was a handicap, but now believe in that same process, I
may have learned to work a bit more lean and self-sufficient, knowing
all the roles involved and how they should integrate to operate as a
unit. That offers a unique perspective to clients and trade partners.
I enjoy laughing with family, campfires, concerts, martial
arts, guitar, and destination golf trips (even though im a 21 handicap
in 2024, I don't cheat.)
