Scope Of Work

A team of companies has banded together to deliver a brand new healthcare facility to the Five Hills Health Region and growing Moose Jaw community in south central Saskatchewan, Canada.

The project is a significant milestone for the country of Canada, being the first one on record to use the Integrated Lean Project Delivery® (ILPD) approach. ILPD focuses on Lean principles throughout the entire lifespan of the project to eliminate waste while maximizing value for the owner and community.

Boldt brought its ILPD experience and methodologies to Canada to tackle this challenge with its joint-venture partner, Graham Construction. The team implemented a variety of collaborative and aggressive management strategies. A few examples of key tools utilized on this project were Target Value Design, Cluster Group Planning, BIM Prototyping, Prefabrication, Last Planner Production System, Takt Time Scheduling and Integrated Form of Agreement Contract.

Twenty-six months after breaking ground in April of 2013, the owner began moving into their new facility in June of 2015. The state-of-the-art healthcare facility that is 208,755 sq. ft. in size services a region of over 54,000 residents and offers a wide range of treatment including procedures, universal care and emergency, diagnostic imaging, central sterile processing, inpatient care (12 mental health and addiction beds, 20 medicine beds, 4 intensive care beds, 10 pediatric beds, 20 surgical beds and 6 LDRP beds) and many administrative and support service areas.
