Scope Of Work
The Boldt Company’s vision for its Chicago “office of the future” was a progressive environment that emphasized their culture and commitment to both its employees and the design community at large.
Designed as an urban eco-system it was imperative that the office contain a variety of 21st century work spaces that encourage collaboration and innovation while maintaining a level of flexibility in anticipation of future growth and change. The design supports creative exploration, energy and engagement. It creates frequent spontaneous collisions and unplanned interactions between differing departments and external partners. The result is an energizing atmosphere of learning, connecting and community building.
Positioned in Chicago’s downtown loops on the corner of one of the city’s most prominent streets, the office on Wacker Drive offers a streetscape multi-sensory experience, where pedestrians, the Chicago River, the EL track and the greater Chicago skyline all add to the space’s dynamic environment.
The design of Boldt’s office responded to this patchwork of activity with an industrial feel of exposed 14 ft. high ceilings, European glass wall systems and polished concrete floors. Beautiful architectural detailing throughout the space softens its look with materials such as: reclaimed barn wood, cross-grain millwork, bright furniture, wool fabric and area rugs. The open space is configured using a variety of furniture solutions that create a diverse atmosphere and encourage a multitude of work place scenarios.
