Scope Of Work
The UCSF Research and Academic Building at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) project consists of a 5-story, 175,000 sq. ft. research and academic building, as well as a roadway project that will become part of the ZSFG campus. The building is being built on land owned by the City of San Francisco and includes the lease agreement and EIR, with Boldt accountable for the terms within each document. The new building is being constructed to move UCSF staff on to the ZSFG campus and into a seismically safe building.
The UCSF ZSFG project is true design/build, with Boldt as the Design Builder and the architect Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) as the Design Partner. The MEP trades and exterior skin are design/build as well. Boldt is co-located with the UCSF team in a Big Room environment. Together they utilize LEAN/IPD tools such as pull planning, A3 decisions, daily check-ins, innovation team coordination and Target Value Design.
The new Research and Academic building will include space for dry and wet research, clinical trials, education and a surgical training facility. Construction is to be completed in the summer of 2022.
