Scope Of Work

Originally built over 100 years ago, Curtiss Hall is a prominent building on Iowa State’s central campus. The first of these two featured renovation projects included complete demolition and new finishes of four office suites, two restrooms, and other miscellaneous mechanical and electrical improvements throughout the building.

The second renovation project at Curtiss Hall involved major demolition and remodeling to create a new space called Harl Commons. Interior structural demolition took approximately six months to complete, and Woodruff Construction removed almost 900 tons of concrete, steel, and debris from the building during this time. The interior remodel resulted in a new commons area for student use, a publicly used café, several computer and study stations, a conference room, renovations and additions to the main staircase, and a new electric traction elevator.
