Scope Of Work
The new School of Medicine and Health Science is the largest project ever undertaken by the University of North Dakota. This 320,000-square-foot, four-story stand-alone building co-locates the University’s health sciences and medical student education programs in a facility that enriches the student learning environments, encourages gathering, and facilitates collaboration balancing education, research, and service. The new building incorporates large-scale windows that were strategically set up to maximize daylight access to the building’s walkways, flexible labs, multimedia auditoriums, classrooms, and research facilities.
Most importantly, the approximately 378,000-gross-square-foot facility allows the school to fully implement its Health Care Workforce Initiative, a four-pronged plan to help address the needs of North Dakota’s health-care workforce now and in the future by reducing the disease burden, retaining more of the school’s graduates for practice in North Dakota, training more practitioners, and improving the efficiency of the state’s health-care delivery system.
