Andrew Wallace's Bio

Before joining PCL in 2008, Andrew worked as a geotechnical engineer in the mining and hydroelectric industries in Canada and the Philippines, and in the civil infrastructure sector. He then transitioned into law working as an associate and contract counsel. His expertise in law and engineering is a winning combination that helps our company navigate a broad range of challenges. As general counsel and member of PCL’s Office of the CEO, Andrew is responsible for overseeing all legal issues affecting PCL’s operations.

Chris Gower started his career in construction on the tools – framing houses, where he grew a deep appreciation for the trades. Prior to his current role as COO, Buildings Chris held positions including construction risk manager, senior project manager, district manager and regional vice president. Throughout his more than 25 years at PCL, he has delivered iconic construction projects across Canada, Australia and the United States. As a member of PCL’s Office of the CEO and board of directors, Chris leads a creative team of solution providers who innovatively address construction challenges. He is responsible for the performance of the organization’s Buildings operations across the globe.
Chris initiated and led PCL’s entrance into the solar business, including the pursuit and award of our first project in Australia. He provides leadership over many in-house-developed technologies, including the groundbreaking Job Site Insights®, an IoT Smart construction platform that drives efficiency while increasing safety, productivity and quality. Chris is recognized as an industry leader in construction technology and continues to champion innovation across the organization.

As president and chief executive officer, Dave is responsible for all operations within the PCL family of companies. Dave leads PCL's Office of the CEO, a group that includes the top senior executive management and leadership of PCL. Before becoming president and CEO, Dave held the position of deputy chief executive officer, and before that was president and COO, Canadian and Australian Operations.
Dave joined PCL Edmonton in 1984 as a field engineer and, following several project assignments in both Canada and the United States, settled in Calgary as a construction manager in 1997. He was appointed Calgary district manager in 2004 and regional vice president, Western Canadian Buildings, in 2008.
With over 35 years of construction industry experience, Dave possesses a wealth of knowledge of both PCL and the construction industry. His relentless focus on PCL's future, along with supporting and developing our people, showcase his leadership mindset and commitment to building lasting legacies.

Deron Brown's Bio

With a master carpenter grandfather and a father who owned his own construction company, building is in Deron Brown’s blood. He began his career as a laborer and has since worked in almost every role in the industry, including superintendent, project manager, manager of Special Projects and district manager. Deron now leads PCL’s strategic direction for commercial buildings and civil infrastructure while providing corporate oversight. As a member of PCL’s Office of the CEO and board of directors, he leverages his more than 30 years of experience to elevate clients’ visions of success.
As technology and innovation continue to revolutionize the construction industry, Deron is at the forefront of PCL’s investment in and creation of new construction innovations that make us a better partner, employer and community member. He is passionate about sharing these innovations and best practices to push PCL and the industry forward.
Deron strongly believes in the importance of relationships and works diligently to understand PCL’s clients and employees. His focus on building and maintaining these relationships through honesty and integrity position PCL as a partner and employer of choice.

Gordon Stephenson, a chartered accountant, joined PCL in 2000 as vice president, Finance and Administration after previously spending 15 years with KPMG in Edmonton, Alberta, where he advanced through the organization ultimately becoming partner in 1997. In 2005 he was appointed vice president, corporate finance for PCL, with responsibility for global accounting, tax, treasury management, financial reporting and financial business system activities of PCL. In 2017, Gord joined PCL’s Board of Directors, responsible for the company’s operating results and in 2019, was appointed chief financial officer, joining the office of the CEO.
Possessing a strong leadership mentality, Gordon has made significant contributions to PCL’s finance team over the past two decades. His financial acumen, industry knowledge and company experience allow him to provide a strategic financial vision for the future of PCL.

Jason Idler brings more than 30 years of experience to his role as chief operating officer of PCL’s heavy industrial operations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan. Joining the PCL family of companies in 2008 as vice president of PCL Intracon Power, he was appointed regional vice president with responsibility for Canadian operations in 2013. The next year he joined the board for PCL Construction Holdings Ltd. and assumed executive sponsorship for large-scale industrial projects, some of the largest PCL has executed among them. In 2017, Jason was named executive vice president for Canada and then president of US heavy industrial operations, based in Houston.
Jason is responsible for PCL’s portfolio of work in the oil and gas, power, renewables, chemical and petrochemical markets. He works with a team of regional executives to oversee all aspects of project planning and delivery including oversight of engineering, project controls, quality, procurement, construction execution, risk management, and health, safety, and environment (HSE). Jason is deeply involved not just in the work of construction, but also in how PCL partners with clients and stakeholders to build a sustainable energy and resource future. For him that means attention to people, to community and to PCL’s role in the energy transition. From planning to site fabrication to execution and ongoing maintenance, Jason, along with the entire heavy industrial group, promises clients a fully tailorable project solution.

Mike Wieninger, chief operating officer, Canadian Operations, is responsible for PCL’s Buildings and Civil operations across all provinces. Mike Wieninger began his PCL career in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 1996 as an estimator. His career quickly progressed with Mike holding numerous senior-level roles in Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto. Prior to his current role as COO, Mike was most recently executive vice president, Canadian Buildings, and senior vice president / district manager for Toronto.
In 2016, Mike joined PCL’s Office of the CEO, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in the construction industry while making significant contributions to the execution of several high-profile projects across Canada. Mike’s passion is building successful outcomes for PCL’s clients while influencing a culture of innovation that pushes the Canadian operations forward.

As vice president of Human Resources and Professional Development, Mike leads the Human Resources and Professional Development management team and is responsible for all of the services and products the team delivers. Mike has 20 years of experience in the leadership, professional development, and human resources fields. He started his PCL career in 2005 as a training consultant and not long after was named HRPD manager for Canadian Industrial. From 2005 to 2014, Mike helped grow the Canadian Industrial professional and administrative salaried staff to almost 1200 people. He attended the PCL Leadership Course in 2008, became an instructor of the course in 2010, and in 2012 took over leadership of the initiative. Mike helped launch the Canadian Industrial student program, the High Potential program, and foreign recruitment initiatives. He brings a wealth of experience in human resources, professional development, and leadership to his position.

Los Angeles, CA (October 11, 2018) – PCL Construction Services, Inc. recently named Cathy Orquiola as vice president and district manager of the company’s California Buildings division where she will oversee all operations throughout California including Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County.
Cathy first joined PCL in 1998 as assistant project manager in Orlando and returned to PCL in 2015 as director, Corporate Development. Prior to returning to PCL, Cathy rose through the ranks and became vice president, operations manager of an international construction firm, overseeing all southeast projects from Savannah, Georgia, to Puerto Rico. In January of 2017, Cathy was promoted to district manager of California Buildings. Cathy was recently recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the 500 Most Influential People in Los Angeles.
“We are lucky to have Cathy in our corner,” said Deron Brown, PCL’s executive vice president. “Her dedication to the construction industry, enthusiasm for developing employees, and willingness to think outside of the box has led to many great successes, and no doubt, many more to come.”
Cathy graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. She is actively involved in the United Way and Make-a-Wish Foundation and is currently a board member for the ACE Mentor program.
