Our Story
Dr. Vincent (Shorty) Mills is proof that there is no single, prescribed path to entrepreneurial prosperity. He has traveled many pathways to success, and he has also created a few new paths throughout his career. He was a truly unique and valuable asset to the contracting community.
He graduated from the Chicago Vocational High School, then earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 1965. After graduation, he immediately joined the US Navy and was soon admitted to the United States Navy Officers Candidate School. He served two 13-month tours in Vietnam, after which he was stationed on the USS Sylvania for one year. Never one to settle down, he played professional basketball in Italy in 1969 until an injury forced him to leave the game. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Mills resumed work as an electrical contractor and earned two Masters Degrees.
He is also a 6th degree black belt in the Yoshinakai System of Aikido and a 5th degree black belt in Kendo. His decades of practice culminated in the Pagoda Ryu Martial Arts System, which he founded and had tested and certified as a viable system in 1996 by the World Martial Arts Federation and the Midwest United Martial Art Association.
1996 was also the year in which he founded our company, Pagoda Electric & Construction Inc. Shorty retired from Pagoda in 2019.
In 2016, Mr. Martin Loredo, Jr. joined the team as a Senior Project Manager with his invaluable 40+ years of electrical experience and soon after became our Chief Operating Officer.
Today, Marty is the President of Pagoda Electric & Construction, Inc. and is thrilled to lead our company to an exciting and bright future.
