Tom Laird, Jr. oversees the firm’s Central/Midwest, Mid-Atlantic,
Southwest and Western offices where his operational responsibility
includes profit and loss and ensuring the execution of the company’s
‘One Company’ vision, strategy and business plan. He also oversees
Gilbane Reconstruction Services which provides clients
with disaster response services.
Prior to becoming an executive vice president 2012, Tom served as
senior vice president/regional manager for Gilbane’s Central Region
where he led a six-state area that, during his tenure, experienced
steady growth and was consistently ranked the #1 builder in Cleveland
and Columbus and recognized as one of the area’s best places to work.
He has an impressive portfolio of experience working with clients
including the World Bank and the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center in
Washington, D.C.; the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, MD; the
Cleveland Clinic Data Center, Cleveland Museum of Art, Flats East Bank
Development, the University Hospitals’ Ahuja Medical Center, and
Seidman Cancer Center, all in Cleveland, OH; and the Goodyear Tire
& Rubber World Headquarters in Akron, OH.
Tom serves as board chairman for the ACE Mentor Program of Cleveland
and in 2012 was the recipient of the Medical Mutual Pillar Award for
Non-Profit Board Executive of the Year for his work with ACE. He also
serves on the board of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, the
Providence House and the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation. He is
an active volunteer with Rebuilding Together Cleveland; a past member
of the Finance Council at Holy Trinity Parish in Cleveland and a past
board member and chairman of the Facilities Committee at Saint Joseph
Academy in Cleveland. He also is on the Legacy Council at Providence
House. Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management from
the University of Cincinnati and earned a master’s degree in real
estate from Johns Hopkins University.
