Scope Of Work
Gilbane Building Company provided construction management at-risk s for the phased expansion and of Haven Middle School in Haven, CT. The project included selected demolition, with an 87,000-square-foot addition, as well as a 52,877-square-foot to achieve the state’s “Renovate as New” reimbursement status.
As part of the efforts, improvements to the existing facility included accessibility enhancements, new MEP and life safety systems, new technology connectivity and electronics and new and improved security systems.
The new addition houses academic classrooms, science labs, a media center, administrative offices, the nurse’s suite and an entry lobby. New athletic fields with lighting fixtures were also part of the site improvements at the school.
Gilbane also supported the owner and architect in the building’s lifecycle and energy modeling efforts by incorporating the Collaborative for High Performing Schools’ guidelines to reduce energy consumption and enhance student performance.
