Scope Of Work
This new innovative transportation hub at T.F. Green Airport was the largest public project in Warwick since the terminal was built by Gilbane in the mid-1990s. Gilbane provided preconstruction and construction management services for the new intermodal facility, which serves commuters traveling throughout the Northeast by plane, train, and automobile. The construction comprised of a six-level parking garage to accommodate commuter and rental car parking; a Customer Service Operations Building; a 1,200-foot elevated Skywalk, and a commuter rail platform.
The most crucial feature of the project, the Interlink’s Skywalk, was built over a heavily traveled road, necessitating extensive site work, utility relocation, and roadwork. Transparency was key as it was a public project, with work over public at all times ?? over airport roads, over state roads, and over active Amtrak Northeast Corridor rail tracks.
In 2013, Gilbane provided project management for a Military Lounge, which provides tens of thousands of active and retired members of the military from across New England who travel through T. F. Green Airport access to donated beverages and snacks to be enjoyed by military and their families of military who spend time in the lounge.
