Scope Of Work
Hagerman completed the first phase of a the multi-phased “STEM Village” at Valparaiso University to accommodate a growing demand for biology, chemistry and physics departments. The Village, when complete, will include three stand-alone structures. Phase I consists of a laboratory-intensive building organized on two levels above grade and one level below grade. The ground floor includes a cadaver laboratory and building systems. The first floor accommodates anatomy/physiology, biochemistry and genetics/microbiology. The second floor houses organic, inorganic, physical, analytical and synthetic chemistry. The Center for the Sciences anchors the east end of the campus core. Extensive use of glazing fills common spaces with natural daylight and visually connects the occupants with campus surroundings. The Center was intentionally positioned towards the Chapel on campus to reflect the creative relationship between faith and learning which is central to the University’s identity.
