Scope Of Work
The 10-story Patriotic Hall was originally built in 1926, and its eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places meant PCL took great care throughout this renovation project to respect the original architecture of the building. The project team’s scope of work included bringing the facility up to code, installing new MEP and HVAC systems, and introducing features in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The resulting transformation into a multipurpose facility will allow for meeting and conference space, a full basement, and a 663-seat auditorium over 85,000 square feet.
PCL’s goal to preserve the historic nature of the building included protecting and restoring several interior murals. Those in the dining room, Navy room, and main entrance were covered in protective plastic sheeting during construction, while those on the sixth floor were demounted and stored, then remounted after rehabilitation.
