Scope Of Work
As the largest wind-tower manufacturing facility in the world, the 650,000-square-foot Vestas Towers Manufacturing Campus was proudly constructed in less than one year. The project called for the construction of four buildings and an exterior crane/gantry farm on a 300-acre campus in Pueblo, Colorado.
The challenge at the outset of this project was the extremely aggressive schedule, requiring PCL to turn over 140,000 square feet of the production facility in just under six months. An additional 140,000 square feet was turned over each month thereafter, even through the winter months. All four buildings were turned over for tooling and equipment installation in just over eight months. At the height of the project, there were over 450 workers onsite on a daily basis, and over 600,000 hours were worked on the project without a single lost-time incident.
