Scope Of Work

Gundlach Champion’s scope of work was the construction of a 600 square foot addition, and the renovation of an additional 10,000 square feet of the Walter F. Gries Hall at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. Construction began after the University started classes in September 2015 and the addition was enclosed and weathertight prior to winter setting in. The interior space was converted from classroom space to the new UP Heritage Museum, archive storage, and alumni offices. New humidity controlled HVAC units were installed for the exhibit space as well as a full glass curtainwall and sandstone entry welcoming students, alumni, and visitors to campus. The project was made possible by a generous donation from Dr. John Beaumier and the building name has been changed to the NMU Beaumier Welcome & U.P. Heritage Center.
