Scope Of Work
Our work at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska included an 188,280-square-foot addition of a new 5-story South Tower, a 62,141-square-foot, 3-story vertical expansion to the East Tower, renovation of 83,060 square feet of existing facilities, and 346 new surface parking spaces.
The new South Tower, adjacent to the existing 3-story operational facility, included new radiation oncology, medical oncology, labor and delivery, post partum and ambulatory surgical space. The addition housed two linear accelerators, a high dose radiation room, two CT Rooms, a PET/CT room and two MRIs along with 16 labor delivery rooms and 36 post partum beds. In addition, 32-Level III Neonatal Intensive Care private rooms and two additional caesarean section operating rooms were renovated.
The East Tower vertical expansion, constructed directly over three operational floors including the emergency department’s entryway, included the addition of 56 medical surgery patient rooms and 28 private cardiac care patient rooms.
Building on this hospital campus in close proximity to critical operations required careful planning and coordination. To complete these important projects, constant collaboration and communication with all project stakeholders was essential. McCarthy worked in tandem with the medical center team to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors, while minimizing disruption to hospital operations to complete this project on time and within budget.
