Scope Of Work
Quandel managed the construction of the University of Scranton’s new Loyola Science Center. The new facility is four stories and 168,000 square feet of new construction and has been integrated into nearly 43,600 square feet of renovated space in the Harper McGinnis Wing of St. Thomas Hall.
The Loyola Science Center features 22 class and seminar rooms, 34 laboratories, including a “Super Lab”, 80 offices, a rooftop green house for research, a 150-seat lecture hall for symposia and seminars, an atrium, a vivarium, several faculty/student research and meeting areas, and a faculty meeting room modeled after the tea room at Oxford University.
The new facility provides the University with bio-computing sciences, physics/electrical engineering and mathematics with laboratory and meeting spaces. The building also serves several interdisciplinary programs including neuroscience and biochemistry, cell and molecular biology.
The new Science Center was designed for Silver LEED Certification but was able to obtain LEED Gold!
