Scope Of Work
Construction for the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools Phase 1 Early Childhood Campus, also known as The Earl Shapiro Hall, was completed in August of 2013 as scheduled in time for its first academic year. The school designed for pre-kindergarteners through second graders features art music classrooms, learning labs, a library which cantilevers (2) levels above the lobby entrance, a gymnasium, outdoor courtyards featuring artificial turf andplayground equipment, green roofs and rooftop playgrounds featuring rubberized play surfaces poured above a hot fluid applied roofing system and insulation. Ardmore Roderick provided construction administration services and engineering support by managing a multitude of trade packages including landscaping, masonry, miscellaneous metals, site fencing, metal panels, roofing, interior glazing, curtainwall and painting totaling more than $13 Million in contract values.
Our survey team performed a detailed topographical and boundary survey as well. Two sites were identified and surveys were provided. Some tasks included measuring and locating nine existing structures, directing field crews, checking and importing data, organizing utility information, and preparing plats per University standards.
In addition to Ardmore Roderick’s management roles andresponsibilities we were solely responsible for processing contract commitments, certified payroll reports and waivers to track andgenerate monthly reports for MBE & WBE Participation, Workforce Participation and Community Hiring.
