After more than six years of being closed, we are thrilled to reopen the newly built Sixth Street Viaduct and usher in a new era for Los Angeles. Once again, this bridge will take its place as one of Los Angeles’ most iconic landmarks connecting the Arts District and Boyle Heights. This celebration will be a tribute to the years of dedicated work that went into creating one of the most inspiring public works projects in our city’s history.”
Jacobs has been working with us since 2014 to perform a comprehensive Business Case, resulting in a full system evaluation on the budgeted capital and ongoing costs compared to the savings over the equipment lifecycle for nearly 300,000 meters. As a result, we decided to implement a hybrid solution, where a majority of meters would be heard with AMI and a small minority would remain AMR. Jacobs supported LWC with a procurement approach that received excellent industry participation. We’re nearly complete with negotiating with the AMI vendor, which Jacobs has helped with every step of the way. Jacobs has done an excellent job supporting LWC and we recommend them for this type of work.
It is a great achievement that we have successfully delivered every major milestone planned . . . a feat that could not have been accomplished without the continued efforts of the Project Management Consultant [Arup/Jacobs Joint Venture].
The overall exterior and interior design, the furniture selections, wall and floor finishes, as well as the color coordination were far superior to most government facilities - which is helping to set the "bar" high for other projects being developed in the area, all while maintaining the government set cost threshold. The A&E Design Team provided exceptional efforts to maximize the efficiencies of the floor plans, which ultimately resulted in cost savings to the Government. Open atmosphere in the design, as well as ganging functions as able, were a few of the tactics proposed and used by the Design Team, which again help in saving the Government money during construction, as well as operational cost savings.”
The work you have done for us…in particular [on] the UTES, an FY05 congressional add, was great. The short time frame we had to design and put the solicitation on the street for the UTES project in order to award the project in the year of appropriation was challenging. Because of your dedication and hard work, we were able to award…the project in the year of appropriation. This was a major achievement.”
