Art joined Chamberlin in 1997 with a strong background in custom metal roofing products. He has extensive knowledge in the construction industry as a result of his management and operations experience in all aspects of construction building products. Art previously owned and operated a building products business for 15 years where he acquired his knowledge of operations, estimating and general management.
Art oversees Chamberlin’s resources and overall proceedings, leads the executive team and sets a course for company strategy. He establishes high standards for himself and those around him for getting the job done no matter the challenges that are faced. He enjoys supporting his industry and currently sits on the Board of Directors for C3. He previously sat on the Board of Directors for the Associated General Contractors (AGC), American Subcontractors Association (ASA) and Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

With over 33 years in the construction industry, Doug has worked on the new construction side and the remedial side, both with general contractors and subcontractors. He brought his vast experience to Chamberlin in 2011 and has overseen safety, risk management, marketing, business development and maintenance. He currently oversees ongoing business operations within Chamberlin and is responsible for the project operations of all new, remedial and maintenance ventures. He has been involved in such projects as the Shell Chemical & Refinery Administrative Building and Texas A&M University’s Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building.
Doug is a member of TEXO (AGC/ABC). He has sat on the board for the Association of General Contractors (AGC), University of Houston Construction Management Industry and Rice Design Alliance. for whom he is also a past President. Currently on the Executive Board of Directors for TEXO, Doug continues to remain active in the A/E/C industry

John Kafka founded Chamberlin in Houston, Texas in March of 1978. He has worked persistently over the years to create clients and project opportunities that turned a small waterproofing shop into a flourishing building envelope contracting business that now employs over 600 people. His passion for performing quality roofing and waterproofing installations safely with a spirit of teamwork and cooperation permeates the company.
John has served on boards and committees of many professional organizations including American Subcontractors Association (ASA) Houston, Associated General Contractors (AGC) Houston, Building Owners and Manager’s Association (BOMA) and was a founding member of Institute of Real Estate Management’s “Friends of IREM” program. He is also a co-founder of Texans for Sensible Immigration Policy (TXSIP) which worked with policymakers in an attempt to find a practical approach to immigration reform laws.
A commitment to the community is part of Chamberlin’s and John’s core values. As such, John currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Catholic Charities, Houston-Galveston Diocese, whose main focus is providing help and creating hope in geographic areas of the diocese most downtrodden. He also serves on the Board of Directors for The WorkFaith Connection, a Christ-centered non-profit that transforms people into a new life through assistance and skills to find and maintain gainful employment.
Under John’s leadership over the years, Chamberlin has invested heavily in both safety and craft training and has become known as the industry leader for their expertise and integrity. “Safety, Quality and Teamwork” has become the company mantra, which has resulted in more and more clients making Chamberlin their preferred vendor for building envelope contracting services.

After interning with Chamberlin while attending Oklahoma State University, Craig was offered a Project Estimator position in the Waterproofing & Caulking department. He has now been with the company 10 years and is currently an Estimating Manager. One of his prominent projects is the Devon Energy Center in Oklahoma City. Chamberlin performed a large waterproofing scope and green roof installation for this 1.7 million square foot, 50-story office tower.

Adam Matthys is a prime example of the saying, “Hard work pays off.” Currently the General Manager of the waterproofing operations in San Antonio, Adam admits accepting the job at Chamberlin was the best career choice he ever made.
Experience:
While attending college at Southwest Texas State, Adam began working as a laborer on the weekends learning how to caulk and install waterproofing. He gradually began running small projects learning the role of a superintendent. After a friend, Lyle Coston, was offered a job at Chamberlin in 2000, Adam joined him and worked in the field as a superintendent in Houston for about 3 years. At the same time, he was taking online courses to obtain a Business Management degree from the University of Phoenix, and many years later, Adam gradually worked his way up through various positions and earned the role as General Manager in San Antonio.

An Aggie through and through, Andy graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Architecture. In an effort to put his education to good use, he sought out a job in the A/E/C industry. On a road trip to Dallas after graduation, Andy discovered a job opening at Chamberlin, applied and was brought on as a project manager in the Waterproofing & Caulking Department. Andy has gained extensive knowledge and experience in the waterproofing field over the past 11 years, working on notable projects like Baylor McLane Stadium and Parkland Hospital. He progressed to senior project manager and now oversees waterproofing and caulking operations for Chamberlin’s North Texas and Oklahoma markets as a vice president.

Chip’s experience in the construction industry started when he was 22, working for a company in Victoria, Texas, breaking metal. He was a recent graduate from Texas A&M with an agricultural degree. He then moved into the interior finish business and became a Superintendent. While living in Dallas, he was hired on at Chamberlin as a Project Coordinator. Once he was promoted to Project Manager, he transferred to the San Antonio office in the Waterproofing & Caulking department. In 2014, he was promoted to Senior Project Manager. A notable project for Chip is Frost Bank in the lovely Westover Hills in San Antonio. A project that would typically take two years to complete was fast-tracked for a one-year completion. Chip rose to the challenge and managed the project to meet the tight deadline, crediting great teamwork for the outcome.

Lyle’s experience in the construction industry started when he was in college, working for his father in Austin, Texas, installing waterproofing and caulking. After two and a half years in the field, the owner decided to utilize Lyle’s experience to estimate projects. It was during this time he was introduced to Chamberlin and was eventually contacted by a recruiter. He decided to make a trip to Houston to meet with Executive Vice President Art Canales and President/CEO John Kafka.
As he did not have a computer at the time, Lyle brought a hand-written resume to his interview, which Art still holds a copy of after 18 years. Lyle started his career with Chamberlin in 2000 and never looked back.

Pat first started his career out of college working in the semiconductor industry, performing testing and certification of cleanrooms and process equipment. This work took him across the states and even overseas, living on the road for most of his early career. Eventually he settled down in Houston, Texas, with his wife, Caryn, and sought a job locally that required less travel. Almost 10 years ago, he was hired at Chamberlin as an Assistant Project Manager in the Waterproofing & Caulking department. He learned waterproofing from scratch - spending time in the field, watching and listening. Over the past decade, he has worked his way up to Operations Manager and has been involved in some of Chamberlin’s highest profile projects, including the recent construction of the JW Marriott in Austin, Texas. Pat takes pride in his accomplishments at Chamberlin and says, “Watching the business grow in Austin has been very rewarding.
Randy Brashier's Bio

Randy enjoys all things construction, so when he was asked by an acquaintance in his younger days to work with him at a roofing company, Randy jumped on the opportunity and never looked back. Using his previous experience, he joined Chamberlin 16 years ago as a Superintendent and over the years, has worked his way up to Senior Project Manager., Matter of fact, he considers his recent promotion to Senior Project Manager one of his greatest work accomplishments.
“Randy’s work ethic and roofing knowledge in the field made him a tremendous asset to our project management team and one of the key contributors to the success of our roofing department as a whole,” said Art Canales, Executive Vice President.

It is no secret to our clients and fellow employees alike that Shane Hubbard is an extremely diligent and conscientious person. He is also particularly organized and thorough in his work. One of Shane’s most distinguishing characteristics is his dedication to exceeding client expectations.
Experience:
Shane was working for an auto part manufacturer in Illinois as a line supervisor when the facility abruptly closed. “My daughter was about two weeks old at the time,” Shane said. He talked to a relative that worked for Chamberlin who informed him they were hiring and could make a place for him if he was willing to work hard and learn the business. So, Shane, his wife and daughter packed up and headed to Chamberlin’s office in Austin. “I arrived on a Saturday night and started work on a Monday as a laborer in the waterproofing department and have been with Chamberlin ever since,” Shane said.
That was 18 years ago. Over that period of time Shane has been repeatedly promoted and today is a Senior Project Manager in the waterproofing and caulking division. Through the years he has managed some large and notable projects including Minute Maid Park, the Enron Building and multiple projects in the Texas Medical Center. Most recently he managed the $4.3 million exterior restoration of the Lambeth House in New Orleans. This project along with flood mitigation work performed at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center won Excellence Awards at the Houston Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors Excellence in Construction Awards.
