Scope Of Work
The 124,649-square-foot facility showcases best-in-league amenities made for elite professional athletes. Players’ facilities include an indoor/outdoor lounge, screening room, training and locker room with a resistance pool, dual cryogenic chambers, multiple whirlpools, steam room, barber shop, a weight/conditioning facility, and dining facility. The second floor houses offices for business and basketball operations and arena capacity for 750 fans. The additional training facility includes locker rooms, lounge, and shower areas. There are corporate team and coaches’ offices, spaces for sponsor functions, multipurpose conference rooms/studios, and a press room.
The new training center is designed for health excellence. The Lakers partnership with the forward-thinking medical team at UCLA Health provides a place that not only treats, but prevents injuries, translating into the ultimate goal of helping the players perform better on-court, while prolonging their professional careers.
Fans can spot the iconic Laker fins on the second level of the glass curtain wall system. Inspired by the transparent nature of the ocean, the glass wraps the entire second level for maximum daylighting. A rain screen of light colored vertical steel fins wraps the entire west, south, and east side. The fins are rotated to allow morning sun from the east while shading the afternoon and evening sun from the south and west.
