Scope Of Work

Lynch submitted a successful bid proposal to MassDOT – Highway Division in December of 2014 for the construction of the third phase of the Quequechan River Rail Trail in Fall River, MA. This one-mile section of shared-use path completes the two-mile link for cyclists and pedestrians between Fall River’s waterfront district and South Watuppa Pond. The path consists of a ten-foot wide bituminous concrete surface with landscaped shoulders, and two timber bridges to span wetland areas along the trail. In order to minimize both temporary construction and permanent ground disturbance, the timber bridges were constructed using helical piles driven deep below grade with specialty equipment. The surface of the timber bridges is constructed of ipe, a sustainable tropical hardwood, selected and aesthetics as well as durability. A new traffic signal was also constructed to safety cross users at Brayton Avenue. This project is the latest in Lynch’s long history of shared-use path construction throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
