Scope Of Work

MTU/Rolls-Royce Power Systems is one of the world’s leading suppliers of large diesel engines and fuel cell power technology. MTU/Rolls-Royce relocated its U.S. headquarters from Michigan to Aiken, South Carolina, and contracted with Evans to construct several phases of their new, state-of-the-art production campus.

“Project Zeta” included the major remodeling of 145,000 sf of an existing structure as well as the turn-key construction of a new 60,000 sf building. The new building is now an engine testing facility used in the production of heavy duty commercial and military engines. After completion of “Project Zeta”, Evans was invited back to the MTU/Rolls-Royce campus to design and build two large diesel engine test stands and a mechanical support building. The test stands were constructed on concrete foundations positioned on a vibration isolation spring system.

During construction of the test stands, MTU/Rolls-Royce contracted with Evans to complete several site improvements and to construct a new office building. The 21,970 sf stand-alone structure is constructed of a conventional steel frame with an insulated metal panel exterior and mechanically fastened TPO roof. Scope of work included design-build services, shell building construction, tenant build-out and a comprehensive site work package including the addition of a new parking lot for the entire campus and two guard houses designed to match the aesthetics of the new office’s exterior.
