Our Story
Cape Cod Panel is locally owned and operated by M.L. Riley Construction with over 40 years of combined experience in Mitek design, on-site framing and prefabricated wall panel building and installation.
Cape Cod Panel manufactures premium exterior walls, interior partitions and Gable components for Residential and Commercial construction. Using Cape Cod Panel quality components provides a faster build time and ROI for General Contractors, Framers and Homeowners.
DESIGN:
Our design work is key to the success of the expected outcome in our field framing and component process and is what drives efficiency in both the shop and the field not seen with traditional stick framing. It is collaborative work that typically requires detailed review of additional plan sets based on architectural and structural changes, omissions and corrections. An example is pricing a bid set vs a finalized permit set with structurals which may impact labor scope and materials.
To best serve our clients we encourage you to consider committing to the Design portion of our proposal which will enable us to begin modeling. The benefits of this commitment include:
- Plan consistency - uniformity of Architectural and Structural plans.
- Finalized “to the stick” material take-off.
- Material optimization – maximum material yield.
- Creates efficiency in the field.
- Creates in-field efficiencies, reduces or eliminates change orders that affect crews, the general contractor, architect and customer.
- Identifies beam layouts and placement, Identifies/Incorporates HDU placement.
- Steel Layouts, placement and ordering, Field layouts – Floor and Roof.
Cape Cod Panel labor and material
- Wall panels reduce the complexity of a framing project by minimizing variables.
- Material quality and construction tolerances are more controlled, assuring better consistency between panels.
- Nail patterns used to attach the studs to the plates and the sheathing to the studs and plates is more accurate and consistent than what is typically attained in the field.
- Sheathing and building wrap can be applied by the wall panel manufacturer in the factory, saving time in the field.
- A wall panel placement diagram simplifies the wall panel installation process by clearly identifying each panel and its intended location.
- Structures can be enclosed more quickly when pre-cut roofs are used, saving time at the job site and avoiding most weather-related delays.
- Exterior walls and many roof systems can be erected without the placement of interior bearing partitions, creating one large, open living space.
- Pre-cut roofs eliminates guesswork, provides a more uniform roof appearance and speeds the construction process.
- Waste due to cutting errors in on-site framed roof construction is diminished.
- Pilferage on the job site lessens because pre-cut components cannot easily be used on other projects.
- Less expensive carpentry labor can be used to install roof components, reducing labor costs.
- Proper roof design decreases the possibility of material shortage delays because roof framing is supplied in one material package.
Frame Details - field labor scope
As the go-to crew for assembling homes and commercial structures, why not save time, frame more projects, and do less work by using building components? Components offer Framers the opportunity to merely set the building components in place, no longer requiring the need to cut and assemble walls and roofs in the field. Using building components better ensures Framers leave the jobsite each day just as they arrived.
