Erik Peterson's Bio
Erik is licensed in Arizona, Idaho, Texas, Hawaii, Nevada and California. He also has attained his NCARB certification giving reciprocity for any state license.
Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Erik received his Bachelor of Architecture degree at Iowa State University in 1993. He completed his Masters degree at Arizona State University in 1996. Erik was awarded the American Institute of Architects Young Gun Award and was recently named Master of the Southwest by Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine in 2014. He has been named Best Architect from AZ Foothills Magazine and No. 1 in Book of Lists for Architecture Firms by the Phoenix Business Journal.
Erik founded PHX Architecture in 2002, under the name of Peterson Architecture, with an emphasis on delivering exceptional design with unparalleled client service. From the beginning, Erik has guided the firm to continued success, with numerous achievements. Focused on lifestyle projects including luxury residential, golf clubhouses, signature resorts and restaurants, Erik’s projects have won numerous industry design awards, and his firm is now recognized throughout the West for quality design. Erik’s projects are regularly featured featured in publications including Luxe Interiors + Design Magazine, Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine, the Phoenix Business Journal, and the Arizona Republic. The firm was rebranded in 2010 to PHX Architecture and broadened its diversity of projects and staff.
Erik’s mentors lead him to his later successes. His first was in London working for Sir Terry Farrell Architects. He then moved to Arizona
gaining the highly valued internship with Taliesin Architects, where he worked on original Frank Lloyd Wright designs including The Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, Wisconsin. He left Taliesin to work with Bing Hu AIA, who he became licensed under and eventually principal of the firm H&S International, winning numerous awards for design excellence.
Erik is married and has two children. He enjoys travel, classical music and opera. His ultimate goal is to design opera sets for the great opera houses of the world.
Maurita Walker's Bio
Maurita is a licensed Architect in the State of Arizona. She is also a LEED-Accredited Professional and has attained her NCARB Certification. She has also completed the Certified Sustainable Building Advisor Program. |
Maurita grew up in Ohio, and received both Bachelor of Science in Architecture, and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kent State University. As part of her undergraduate studies, she participated in the KSU CAED European Program in Florence, Italy and Lugano, Switzerland. |
Maurita joined PHX Architecture in 2010. In her role as Architect and Project Manager, she directs many of our commercial, restaurant and hospitality projects from design through construction, mentoring junior staff and collaborating with clients, consultants and builders to provide guidance and technical expertise. Recent projects of note include Saint Marc USA in Huntington Beach, CA, SumoMaya Mexican Asian Kitchen in Scottsdale, The Scottsdale Area Association of Realtors Headquarters, Burger Theory Restaurant in Phoenix and the Wigwam Resort and Spa Renovations. Past experience includes Higher Education, Aviation, and Retail projects. |
Outside the studio, Maurita is active in the community as a Girl Scouts troop leader and a mentor in various kids’ programs. She also enjoys traveling and ballroom dancing.

Ron Skoog 's Bio
Ron is a licensed Architect Arizona and Nebraska. He is a LEED-Accredited Professional, and currently presides as the Scottsdale and Northeast Valley Section Leader for the American Institute of Architects. |
Ron is a native of Nebraska and graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln College of Architecture. As a student, Ron held office with the American Institute of Architecture Students and apprenticed in the office of the UNL campus architect working on the campus master plan and numerous campus renovation projects. |
Ron joined PHX Architecture in 2015. As a Principal, Ron leads the Commercial projects group, with an emphasis on Hospitality, Restaurant, Clubhouse, Commercial and Tenant Improvement projects. His outgoing personality allows Ron to work well with clients, lead project teams and effectively manage project flow. In his time with PHX, he has been instrumental in several of our recent commercial projects, including The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch, the Stone Canyon Golf Clubhouse, the Summerlin Aquatic Center and the Assumption Fellowship Hall. Prior to joining PHX, Ron worked extensively with clients such as JW Marriott and Fairmont to deliver major renovations for luxury hotel properties in Arizona, California, New York and Mexico City. Past experience also includes Commercial offices, Retail, Banking, and Libraries. |
Outside the studio, Ron is an avid runner and cyclist, completing several full- and half-marathons. He is also an accomplished musician. While his musical background includes multiple genres, he often performs live as a drummer/percussionist with a jazz ensemble. |

Erin Bell's Bio
Erin comes to us from Philadelphia, where she grew up and later attended West Chester University. She attained her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, with a concentration in Marketing and Public Relations. |
Erin joined PHX Architecture in April 2016. At our concierge desk, she makes a great first impression with her outgoing personality and cheery smile. Additionally, she’s a driving force behind many of our creative marketing projects, utilizing her passion for writing and editing to promote the firm’s social media efforts, event planning, and writing for the Edifice, our monthly newsletter. |
A true Philly sports fan, Erin is a past kickball and softball champion, loves hiking and camping, and can hold her own with a hockey stick. |
