Scope Of Work
The new state of the art 79,200 square-foot LEED Gold facility replaced the existing police station located at 1200 Gannon Drive, between Higgins and Golf Roads. The new police facility includes an Emergency Operation Center for the Village and will also host traffic court for residences. Indoor underground parking is provided for 45 police vehicles. The new police facility also addresses the rapidly growing demands and expansion for law enforcement for the Village of Hoffman Estates.
The only obstacle or issue was with the foundations and underground parking facility included in the building, which was constructed during the late fall and winter, and consequently inhibited scheduled structural steel and precast floor deck erection due to heavy snow and below freezing temperatures. The Owner demolished an existing restaurant at the north end of the job site before we began construction. And we did encounter, excavate and remove an unknown and existing buried foundation in the middle of the job site that was a surprise to the Owner. However, the project was still completed per the village’s schedule requirements in the summer of 2010 and was under budget.
