CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS

Because the work being performed was located within an active university campus, W.T. Rich was required to maintain and constantly adjust a demanding site logistics and mitigation plan to ensure all planned construction activities proceeded in the least obtrusive manner

Hazardous materials and contaminated soils added a layer of complication to the project approach. The recommended design was to remove the existing fill, which needed to be disposed of at an out-of-state landfill due to the nature of the contaminants, and added an extra layer of paperwork to satisfy the requirements of the EPA

Due to the inherently complex nature of the project, there were numerous owner-related and design-related program changes. W.T. Rich was able to respond to these changes effectively ensuring that changes were implemented quickly and cost-effectively.

RESULTS

W.T. Rich achieved on-time completion of the final project phase in August 2016, and final completion and closeout in November 2016. W.T. Rich delivered the project successfully – meeting project deadlines, staying on budget and earning the praise of the school for our ability to minimize the impact on the school’s educational environment
