Gary Brantley's Bio
After earning his B.S. & M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering (with emphasis in Construction Management) from Clemson University, Gary spent time as an engineer in the offshore oil industry and obtained his P.E. In 1986, Gary then joined Brantley Construction and currently serves as President. His responsibilities include overall operations of Brantley Construction.
He has successfully completed a wide range of projects including the complex and unique, requiring close attention to details like the budget, schedule, etc. These include military projects (missile magazines and torpedo maintenance facilities), marine facilities (marinas and piers), commercial projects (offices, restaurants, and warehouses) and institutional facilities (K-12 schools, college learning, higher education, research centers and laboratories). As you can see, Gary has definitely helped add to the Brantley Construction Team.
Over the years, he has been recognized not only for his contributions to the construction industry, but also by his contributions to our community, among which included his active role in the Dorchester County Habitat for Humanity. Gary has held board positions with several the following organizations: the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Construction Specification Institute (CSI), the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and the Charleston Contractor’s Association (CCA).
Matthew Brantley's Bio
Matthew Brantley brings to the position of Vice President more than 13 years of construction experience, as well as, undergraduate and graduate degrees from Clemson University in Civil Engineering. Matthew has helped Brantley Construction strengthen and grow over the past 8 years. Brantley Construction looks forward to his leadership and innovations in developing the Brantley organization.
Matthew’s combined experiences managing new and renovation projects, including projects for the City of North Charleston and the very demanding Army Corps of Engineers, give him a strong understanding of preconstruction, estimating, and construction services. Since 2012, he has held the position of Project Manager at Brantley Construction. As a Project Manager, he continues in his primary responsibilities of building client and subcontractor relationships.
Matthew was born and raised in the Charleston area and enjoys active membership of his church and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Alex Dickson's Bio
Alex joined Brantley Construction in 2021. Alex graduated from The Citadel with a degree in Civil Engineering. He brings 4 years of commercial development experience working in site selection, underwriting, project coordination, and property management. Alex will work intimately with our team to aid in all aspects of both the day to day operations, as well as, assist and perform Project Management duties.
Benjamin Wilson's Bio
Ben Wilson is a Project Manager in the North Carolina Office. Ben comes from the Heavy Civil/ Bridge Construction world where he successfully completed many outstanding projects for both NC and SC DOT Offices. He has a Degree in Construction Management from Appalachian State University where he also threw a mean fast ball and Split finger for the baseball team. We are excited for what the future holds for Ben and our NC office and glad to have him on our team.
Mike Colavita's Bio
Mike graduate from Clemson University in 1975 earning a B.S. in Building .
Spending 40 years in the local (Charleston, SC) industry, Mike has held the positions of Superintendent, Estimator, Project Manager, Building Dealer, and Owner. His areas of work include , metalbuildings, warehousing, office buildings, automobile dealerships, banking facilities, schools, pre-cast concrete/tilt up buildings, renovations and government projects.
His current responsibilities as Senior Project Manager at Brantley are providing oversight on all field operations, and direction of project managers, superintendents and all field employees. Mike ensures that all resources of the company are managed and coordinated in an efficient and professional manner on all projects in order to perform work with a high quality of workmanship, within the budget and on schedule.
his years, Mike completed many successful projects in the Tri-County area and has gained recognition and respect for all of his hard work. He is the former President of both the Charleston Contractors Association (CCA) and the Charleston Society of Military Engineers (C-SME). In 2002 he was awarded New Dealer of the Year and #3 Dealer in the Country for Steelox Building Systems. Under Mike’s leadership Brantley has received Star Building Systems’ Outstanding Builder Award for 5 years running.
Currently, Mike is a member of the Star Building Systems President’s Advisory Council (PAC). As a member, representing builders from across the country, he works with Star’s team involving pricing structures, products, marketing and technology.
Mike is an active member and Deacon at East Cooper Baptist Church. He is also an avid sports follower and memorabilia collector. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren
